Communicated

Monday we gathered our MC Leaders and Team Leaders (worship, tech, hospitality...) to communicate our hopes for 2012.  We covered the information that is scattered here on the blog and then some...
The large # of unchurched in our city
Our desire to reach them and bring them into a gospel community
How we want to make it easy for our people to invite others
Our dream to launch Sunday morning services in Warner Robins this Fall
Our dream to launch a North Macon site as early as January 2013
I talked about how those things would impact our entire team and how the only way that we could see these things happen is (1) that God be at work in our midst and (2) that this team works together to advance the gospel in and through the people of New City... sharing and inviting.

The response thus far has been excitement and fear.  Our leadership is excited about taking bold, aggressive steps of faith to see our city reached.  They also admit that there is fear... mostly of change and stepping out of their comfort zone.  There are also questions... can we do this?

Step one is complete - the initial communication of vision to our leaders.  But communication is not complete.  It is very important that we remember that this vision will have to be communicated over and over and over.  While as vocational ministers we think often of the church where we are headed, the truth is that most of our people think about their jobs and their family and all that life brings them more than they do the church and where we are headed.  That is simply reality.  I believe Andy Stanley said in his book Visioneering that the vision must be repeated every 27 days.  So... here we go... the first step of moving from dream to reality - communicated the dream so that it becomes the reality!
